Up North :: minnesota tour part 1

Paul and I have been in Minnesota this week visiting his Dad and Step-mom.  They live in Center City about 8 hours from Kansas City.  Monday morning we headed north about 2 more hours, to Duluth and hung out in the Canal Park area, watching the boats come and go.  The weather was absolutely wonderful... much like fall in Kansas City.  I couldn't imagine going back to our heat and muggy air :(   Here are a few images from our trip so far.  Today we're heading towards western Minnesota to Spicer, where we will be with his Mom's side of the family celebrating his Granny and Papa's 60th anniversary

We continued further north on Tuesday towards Gooseberry Falls.

... and even further north to Split Rock Lighthouse

We were told that we must stop at the world famous Betty's Pies... a little overated if you ask me.

Look for part two of this post, as I hope to get some good family shots this weekend.  We'll be right on a lake, so it's sure to be a good time!

Wedding of Susan & Curtis :: 7-19-08

This wedding, by far, tops my list of favorites! Susan and Curtis are an amazing couple, and now, an amazing family with their three boys.

I love this shot when Susan's son, Jacob, came in to see her for the first time in her gown. Susan shared with me that she and Jacob had come a long way in the past few years. They have a very special and tender relationship that was evident throughout the day.

When he was younger, Jacob told his mom that he wanted to marry her and walk her down the "highway".

The shot below was a request from Susan. What a great looking bunch of guys.

Absolutely beautiful!
The shot below is probably one of my favorites from the day. They prayed just before saying their goodbyes. This family is centered around their faith...I love that.

Okay....I'm torn...this one below just may be my favorite. I love how the boys are signing "I love you" as they say goodbye.
It was such a hot day....ice cream anyone?
Susan and Curtis met on Match.com, I set up this image below at Starbuck on the plaza. My husband and I are actually a Yahoo.com couple (Thanks Kim!)

I'm going to have to start a red door series...it's becoming quite popular.
Only one word .... Wow.

We ended the evening at Kites on 75th and Neiman. I was told that Curtis bleeds purple.
Bottoms up!

I have so many great memories from this wedding. Susan and Curtis made us feel like rock stars, and their family and friends made us feel so welcome. Paul and I ended up staying at the bar until 10:30 that night...why stop when you are having fun?!

Susan and Curtis, thank you so much for this honor and opprotunity to capture this amazing day! I wish you and your boys all the best. God Bless!

Slideshow :: Susan & Curtis

I have finally found a great slide show program! Some of you may have seen my cheesy versions using One True Media; I know it wasn't that professional, but it worked until I could research enough to find exactly what I wanted. I will be using this along with blog images to show clients shortly after their event. This slide show will come free with all sessions and packages with the option to buy the slide show on DVD. This is my first one using the program and I've already made changes for the next one I create. Please feel free to offer feedback. Enjoy!

Susan and Curtis :: engagement 7-06-08

Susan contacted me awhile back by way of a mutual friend. I'm so happy my friend referred me; they were a great couple to work with, and I'm so excited for their wedding in less than a week and a half!

We did this session late afternoon last Sunday. It was so HOT! I was sure I had sweated out half my body weight! Susan and Curtis did great. I love it when I meet a couple and it's obvious that they are in love. Believe it or not I do run across some whom I question, however, that was not the case with these two!

We had the cops stop and watch us for awhile downtown. It was a little un-nerving, but I tried to not let it get to me and continued to shoot away.
I love the way the wind caught Susan's hair in the image below.
I was standing right next to a dumpster for this shot below...it smelled SO bad, but I will do pretty much anything for a great shot! :)

Susan and Curtis, I am so glad you two found me, and am so excited and honored to be a part of this new beginning for you! I hope you have enjoyed these as much as I have. Thank you!

About Christina

One of my favorite memories from my own wedding, aside from marrying my husband, was when my Dad walked me down the aisle and I leaned over and whispered to him, "I'll always be your little girl."  I love that moment!
     It's moments that make up our lives, defines who we are, and ultimately create our destinies.  Many such moments have brought me to where I am today.  I began photographing in 2001, and began Sandberg Photography in the fall of 2006.  This has been a huge dream of mine, and I believe that God has given me a gift of capturing unique and special moments; without Him, I am truly nothing!  I owe this dream to Him!
