Welcome Taylor!

Last Wednesday, I finally had the privilege of meeting Taylor Blayne for the first time since her birth one month ago. Her mother, Nicole, and I go back a few years as co-workers at a school for visually impaired children. I know everyone says that all babies are cute, but Taylor tops them all...she's beautiful! She was the perfect model and was very tolerant of her first little photo shoot.

Christin & Zac: June 9, 2007

Christin was one of the very first brides I met with at the beginning of the year, and she was just as excited then as she was on Saturday. All brides are beautiful, but Christin had a light about her that seemed to radiate beauty in itself; she also displayed a unique sense of calmness. I had the privilege of meeting Zac for the first time just before he and Christin were about to see each other. I asked if he was nervous and he said, "How can you be nervous when you know you are doing the right thing." I am certain that this marriage was the right thing for both of them. I was given the opportunity to be in the room to photograph as they both saw each other for the first time, and was able to see what made these two right for each other. Zac seemed almost breathless at the site of his soon-to-be wife. They each presented gifts to one another and I left them alone for a few more minutes before we began shooting the formals.

The formal shots took a little bit of time; we had several shots on our list, but the groom and his father (Mike) kept things light with their great sense of humor and just plain ol' overall goofiness.

The ceremony was beautiful and the ministers' words were uplifting and encouraging as he challenged Christin and Zac to strive for a Godly marriage. The reception immediately followed at the Wyandotte County Park. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and the night went on with lots of dancing. There were stories of how Zac and Christin met, along with words of wisdom and advice from couples who had been married for years...and let's not forget the special music from the fraternity brothers!
This was a unique wedding for me, in that, two of my other brides-to-be were also in attendance. Rebekah, a friend of the bride, whose reception I will cover in October, and the maid of honor, and sister to the bride, Jennifer. She and Christin booked with me at almost the same time. Jennifer's wedding will be in September and I am looking forward to getting to know this family even more.

Christin and Zac...it was such an honor to be a part of your day! Thank you for trusting me with your memories! God bless you in your new life together!

Kathy & Michael

My drive to Baldwin City was well worth the time for these two. The campus at Baker University was beautiful and provided us with an amazing setting. Kathy and Michael were such a fun couple to photograph...just another reminder of why I do what I do. (This seems to be happening quite often with the couples I've met recently.) Their wedding is set for November and I can hardly wait!

Shana & Anthony: May 26, 2007

What's the saying...It's good luck when it rains on your wedding day? Well, rain it did, but rain could not douse the love I felt that was between this amazing couple. I met Shana a couple of months ago, in my home, and knew instantly this was going to be a wedding I would thoroughly enjoy. The rain delayed us slightly, then quit for the remainder of our time there, leaving us with its glistening beauty.
The ceremony began and I watched as Anthony could barely take his eyes off of Shana...she was the bride of his dreams and he was the man of hers. As they said their vows to one another, one thing stood out to me when Shana spoke and told Anthony, "I feel safe with you". I love this! Marriage should be just that...our safe place.

A special thanks to the matron of honor...Stephanie, thank you for your help with the formal shots...I felt your help made this time flow smoothly and quickly. From my experience, formal shots can be a somewhat tense time, however, that wasn't the case here. With the help of Stephanie and the relaxed attitude of everyone, these shots turned out great!

It was a perfect evening and such a fun loving group...you could feel the closeness and love between everyone. Rick served the honor of best man, and Rick, I have to say that, hands down, your best man's speech was the best I've ever heard. You shared from your heart and I know you are a blessing to Anthony and Shana as their friend.
So, Shana and Anthony, in the words of Rick (and He-Man) I say "Good Journey". Thank you so much for giving me the honor of being a part of your day!

Amanda & Will: winter in springtime

Wedding season is finally here, unfortunately, the weather hasn't caught up with the season. I met Amanda over the phone several weeks ago. She is being deployed to Iraq soon and hired me to photograph her wedding before she left.

I met Amanda and Will on the plaza at 8am Saturday morning. It was absolutely freezing! Ice had formed on all the fountains. Several times I thought my hands might freeze to my camera, but despite the cold, it was an honor to be a part of their day. It was just the two of them, as family and friends were all a half a country away. They married at a small roadside park in Mission Hills, KS. My husband came along with me and we both served as witnesses; I even found myself filling in as the role of bridesmaid from time to time. It just goes to show that being a wedding photographer can require wearing many hats. I was very happy I was able to be there for them. It is always fun to watch two people begin a new chapter in their lives together.
This was a great start to the wedding season.
To Amanda and Will, I wish you all the best in your new life together, especially in your time apart.

About Christina

One of my favorite memories from my own wedding, aside from marrying my husband, was when my Dad walked me down the aisle and I leaned over and whispered to him, "I'll always be your little girl."  I love that moment!
It's moments that make up our lives, defines who we are, and ultimately create our destinies.  Many such moments have brought me to where I am today.  I began photographing in 2001, and began Sandberg Photography in the fall of 2006.  This has been a huge dream of mine, and I believe that God has given me a gift of capturing unique and special moments; without Him, I am truly nothing!  I owe this dream to Him!
