Portrait Session Winner :: ABBY, MICAH, & KATHERINE

It's been years since I've seen Dawn, but I still love that girl!  She's one-of-a kind, and has a one-of-a-kind heart.  Dawn was the second winner of my portrait session contest.  I am so glad she entered; she is such an amazing person!  Dawn is now the mother of three beautiful children; Abby, Micah, and Katherine.  Not only are her children beautiful, but they are the most well behaved children I've ever met!  Not once did they complain or get grouchy. They were so eager and willing to have their pictures taken.  My friend has done a wonderful job with raising them!  To me, she is super-mom; she always gives her best and her all to her kids!
Seriously, who can resist these faces?

Dawn, I am so thrilled I was able to do this session for you!  I truly hope we can continue to keep in touch!

Weekend with the family

Two weekends ago, I drove down to southeast Missouri with my sister to attend my brother's graduation from college.  The drive is long, and at times can be utterly boring, but I always love going back to where I grew up.  The sounds of crickets and tree frogs on a summers night, fireflies flashing in unison, the sky crystal clear with stars as far as you can see; these are memories I treasure and look forward to often.  Below are a few images from Matthew's gradutation; I circled his face in the crowd of graduates :)
The ceremony was 2 1/2 hours long, and it took us an hour and a half just to get there.  Needless to say, we were all grateful to finally see him at the end!
I loved the way the sky looked that day.
These next few images are of us enjoying a beautiful Sunday afternoon.
"Papa" and Joah
My sis :)

We took some time to pick a few strawberries in Mom and Dad's garden.  Joah instantly became addicted to them!  At one point, he became frustrated that we weren't feeding him fast enough, so he crawled into the patch to get one himself :)

One of my cousins owns a greenhouse just up the street.  She does beautiful work!  I had to capture a few images, but they just don't do the place justice.

Yesterday, Paul and I spent Memorial Day with a few friends and had an Amazing time.  Today, however, we are exhausted!  I will share some of yesterday's moments, as well as more from my session with Dawn and her children in the next couple of days!

SNEAK PEEK :: Abby, Micah, & Katherine

Dawn was my second winner of my portrait session giveaway.  I met up with her and her kiddos last Thursday evening for a fun little shoot in the park.  Here are a couple of sneak peeks!

I'll post more after this holiday weekend.  For now, I'm off for some outdoor fun!  I hope you all have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!

Portrait Session Winner :: Jaron and Reese

Last Friday I went back to my hometown in southeast Missouri for my brother's graduation.  While I was there, I did a portrait session for Jessie and her two kids, Jaron and Reese.  Jessie was one of my portrait session winners, and the day turned out beautiful!  Jaron was the perfect model.  I graduated high school with his dad, and he looks so much like him! Reese, on the other hand, was not happy with me.  Nothing I did could convince her to like me.  She had also been sick earlier in the week, so who could blame her!  :)

Jessie, I am so glad I was able to do this for you!  You have two adorable children, and you have stayed as gorgeous as always!  Thank you for letting me do this!

Sneak Peek :: Jaron and Reese

I'm in southeast Missouri for the weekend... yeehaw!  The weather turned out beautiful yesterday, and I was able to fit in a photo session for Jessie, one of the winners of my portrait session giveaway.  Jessie has two adorable kids, Jaron and Reese. I'll be busy this weekend with my brother's graduation, but I thought I'd post a quick sneak peek of yesterday's session. More to come soon!

Playing at the Zoo...

Last weekend, Paul and I went to Omaha to spend time with his family, and visit Omaha's Zoo.   I've wanted to go to this zoo for quite some time, as I've heard so many people talk very highly of it.  I have to say, I was really impressed with the indoor exhibits such as the Rainforest, Desert Dome, and Kingdom of the Night; however, the outdoor exhibits seemed to lack in creativity.

We must have been lost here...

Can you tell me which image below doesn't belong?
This weekend, my brother graduates from college, so I will be spending time with my own family in southeast Missouri.  I have a couple of photo sessions scheduled during this time, so hopefully the weather cooperates, and I will have some images to share with you when I get back!

Makes Me Happy...

I've said it before, but I absolutely LOVE what I do... I love it even more when My Clients love what I do!  I recently finished up an engagement session with photographers, Cassie and Adam, and many of you have already seen my post on that.  (If you haven't yet, scroll down and enjoy!) I visited Cassie's BLOG the other day and beamed with pride and joy!

CLICK HERE for her first write-up; and CLICK HERE for the second.  Her words have meant so much, and it's people and comments like this that keep me going.  I know I'm not the best, but I strive to give, and be my best.  It is such an honor to me when my best is loved and recognized by others!

Below are a couple of images I shot the other day of two best friends.  These girls have known and lived next to each other for many years.  I thought it would be fun for them to do a mini photo-shoot.  Friendship, no matter how old or young you are, should be treasured and remembered!

Over the weekend, Paul and I traveled to Omaha to visit his sister and spend a day at the zoo.  I brought my camera along and will post a couple of images soon.  Have a blessed week!

Photographer Spotlight:: C. Lynne Productions

I absolutely love what I do, and feel so blessed to be able to do what I love!  I also love it when I get the chance to meet and work with others who love the same thing. As I posted in my last blog, Sunday I had the opportunity to do an engagement session for Cassie and Adam of C. Lynne Productions.  Today, I'd like to introduce them to you...
How long have you been photographing weddings?
I've been taking pictures for many years.  Even back throughout highschool I was into taking pictures- I was the one who always bought my friends picture frames for any gift, and always, and I mean ALWAYS, had a camera in my purse.  It was always a dream of mine to get to take pictures for a living, and in college I really got into the art of shooting weddings.  It is such an honor to have a couple trust you with capturing their wedding- to be that person who provides you with those tangible memories that will be cherished for a lifetime, that’s something that I never get over.

What first got you interested in shooting weddings?
I love weddings.  I mean, I was the typical girl who grew up planning my dream fairy-tale wedding and to combine that love with my love for photography was truly my dream job.  Every single wedding if different, and that is what I love about photographing them.  While they all have their similarities, each and every one is unique and the interaction that I am able to have with my couples is something that really drew me to weddings.  They trust you on their day and are allowing you to witness those truly special moments of the day, the fact that I get to use my passion to create their lasting memories- that’s what drew me to the job.

What do you enjoy most about photographing weddings?  What is your favorite part of the day?
Aside from the general hustle and bustle of the wedding day that, although stressful, is fun for me, my absolute favorite part of every single wedding happens the second that the bride starts walking down the aisle.  It is at that point that I am at the front of the church or location and I’m not looking at the bride, but instead for just a few seconds, I have my camera focused on the groom’s face.  It’s that instant that he sees his bride for the first time, that look on his face that is a mixture between wonder, awe, love and a little bit of nerves and fear- that is my absolute favorite part of the wedding day.

What type of clients do you find yourself most working with?
My couples tend to be those who want something different.  Almost every couple I have worked with has had some sort of element to their day that will set it apart from every other wedding.  Whether it be a pair of bright green shoes under their dress, or a cleverly devised theme for the reception, there is something that makes them stand out.  They want to make the wedding their own, and they want their photography to be their own as well- they tend to like the modern and artsy instead of the traditional.

What current trend in wedding photography do you most like personally?
Angles and textures.  I’m a huge fan of editing and really making my photography into pieces of art.  I love the untraditional angles and views and the editing textures that are so big right now.  I also love all of the vintage styles that are big right now- that is my favorite style to edit!  It just makes all of the features softer and gives everything a more romantic feel.

Are there any particular suggestions you give your clients when you meet with them in regards to planning for their day?
Relax.  I know that every vendor probably gives this same advice, but as the day gets closer I really try and stress the importance of relaxing on your wedding day!  It goes by so fast, and if you are worried about those little tiny details you are going to blink and everything else will be over.  I tell them to relax and let everyone else worry about the little things on the wedding.  I tell them that it doesn’t matter how hard you try, but you WILL be late on the wedding, and that that is ok, and to allow time for things to not go as planned.  Weddings are chaotic, and that’s ok!  At the end of the day, the important thing is that you are married and surrounded by the people who care about you.
Are there any other fun facts that you want my readers to know about you? Let’s see...well, I’m a bit of a goof.  I don’t much care what it takes to get a particular shot- if that involves me laying on the floor at the reception or coaxing the bridal party to climb over rocks, chances are I’ll do it.  Pictures are important to me, pretty much the most important thing to me in regards to my own life since those are the one things that cannot be recreated or replaced and I take them seriously.  I like to have fun, make jokes, and be a bit sarcastic.  When we are doing a shoot, I try to get you to laugh.  I look at things through a bit of a creative eye and if a shoot or a wedding is going well, I guarantee that I’m not watching the time.  I could shoot forever- I love taking the time to find great poses and new angles.  I learn something at every single wedding, and regardless of how many times I have met you or interacted you- chances are I will probably tear up during the vows at your ceremony.  Like I said, I love weddings.  I’m blessed to have a job I enjoy and one that makes people happy- it’s the ultimate dream!
Adam and Cassie, it was such an honor, and a pleasure to meet and work with you both!  Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity, and for trusting me with your images.  I truly hope our friendship will grow, and that we will have many opportunities to work together in the future!

Adam and Cassie

It was such a great honor to be chosen by fellow photographers, Adam and Cassie, to shoot their engagement pictures! Adam and Cassie moved to Kansas City last fall from Omaha.  They specialize in weddings, and were such a fun couple to work with.  We took off Sunday afternoon and headed for the Westbottoms; known as a photographers playground here in KC.  It was a gorgeous day, and the light was in our favor.  Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

We ended our session at Crown Center, where Adam had suggested they jump into the fountain.  Once we got there he had second thoughts but had to follow through :)  Tomorrow I will post a spotlight interview with Cassie, and highlight their photography business.  You can find out more about them by going to their website at http://www.clynneproductions.com/

About Christina

One of my favorite memories from my own wedding, aside from marrying my husband, was when my Dad walked me down the aisle and I leaned over and whispered to him, "I'll always be your little girl."  I love that moment!
It's moments that make up our lives, defines who we are, and ultimately create our destinies.  Many such moments have brought me to where I am today.  I began photographing in 2001, and began Sandberg Photography in the fall of 2006.  This has been a huge dream of mine, and I believe that God has given me a gift of capturing unique and special moments; without Him, I am truly nothing!  I owe this dream to Him!
