Kim and Glynn :: Wedding 8-16-08

There are many things in life that do not come with a guarantee, however, marriage does come with one guarantee... it won't always be easy. While knowing this, I bravely have tested that guarantee even more, by bringing my husband along to assist and second shoot for most of my weddings. This past weekend we headed north to Barry Rd for Kim and Glynn's wedding.
While driving, we decided to take the wrong exit; not because we were given the wrong directions, we just didn't pay attention to them... test #1. We still managed to arrive on time.
Some of you may remember Kim and Glynn's engagement session from last fall. They are both such an easy going couple and love to have fun. As I took the groomsmen shoots, I was able to hear a few stories about the crazy times the guys have shared together...especially at Starbucks.
I love this shot below as Kim and Glynn see each other for the first time.
A bride always has to have her entourage.
Glynn and his boys... what a crazy group!

These two were so excited! Their family and friends were evident in their excitement as well.

The Bentley, featured below, was provided by Pech Limo.
I think it was the same car Paul and I used for our wedding two years ago!

When we arrived at the KCI Marriott for the reception, I discovered that we had left my step ladder at the church, which was 10 miles away... test #2. A brief moment of panic, and then forgiveness, as realization came that it could be easily replaced at Lowe's. The Marriott provided great service. We also met a new videography team, Digital Odeon, owned by Bora Yenal. I can't wait to see their video!

Kim and Glynn, thank you for this opportunity! Too bad we couldn't work something out with the honeymoon pictures :) For a slideshow of this wedding CLICK HERE.

Free to Succeed

Monday night I had the amazing opportunity to attend David Jay's Free to Succeed tour with Jasmine Star. I have been to quite a few seminars since beginning my business, and this one blew the others out of the water! In the past, I have always walked away with great information, and of course, a whole list of new products to buy. In the end, I would usually end up discouraged, and wondered if I would ever really make it. David and Jasmine gave so many practical points and left me very encouraged. They also left me with many questions to ask myself: Why am I doing what I'm doing? Who am I influencing? Who am I giving back to? Some may wonder what it had to do with photography, but believe me, it had everything to do with it. I'm so glad I went!

I've mentioned recently that I'm in the middle of a very busy season, (when am I not?) and I want to apologize for focusing on that. Too often, I think we all let our businesses take over and we forget the real reason behind what we're doing, and I am guilty of that. So, beginning now, there will be some changes for Sandberg Photography. These are changes that I have been aware of but never ventured out... I feared that change. We can't deny it, times are changing, and to keep up, we must change. We shouldn't fear change, for in that change comes a molding of our character and a refining of our spirit.

It's in our human nature to fear the unknown. We fear uncertainty, but isn't it usually that the thing we fear is what we want the most? Could it be that in that fear lies our greatest desires and ultimate destinies? There is much that I lack understanding in, but I know that to overcome my fears and to truly change, I have to go beyond my own understanding and go forward with faith and confidence.

Have a blessed Wednesday!

Wedding of Brittany and Justin

With the start of August, began my whirlwind of weddings.  Things kicked off last Saturday with Brittany and Justin's wedding.  We began our day at Antioch Park for a few images before the ceremony.  The day started with rain, but ended just in time for our shoot... allowing for much cooler than average temperatures.

I mentioned in their engagement post, that Brittany's grandpa and his wife had allowed me to live with them for a few years when I first moved to KC.  This wedding was a little like a family reunion for me.  I had a great time, and can't wait to post the rest of their images.  For a slide show of more images click HERE.

Brittany and Justin, thank you for this opportunity... I wish you the very best!

Shatto Milk Company

Last week I had the opportunity to visit the Shatto Milk Company located just north of Kansas City.  This is a family dairy farm dedicated to producing the areas finest and best tasting milk.  The farm provides tours, allowing people to see where and how the milk is produced.
We were able to feed some of the babies as well as learn how to milk a cow; obviously, the farm does not hand milk anymore.

Cow meets boy :)

Shatto's milk is provided primarily in glass bottles, keeping the milk much cooler than plastic.

Leroy Shatto is the owner and recently won Missouri's small business of the year award, as well as runner up in the nation.  Below he explains the washing process of the returned glass bottles, making his farm environmentally friendly.

This was a great tour; a story of the all American dream.  I highly recommend taking the time to visit.  For more information go to:  www.shattomilk.com

Up North :: minnesota tour part 2

Well, we are finally back from our tour of Minnesota! I am beat! On Thursday, Paul and I left his Dad's and headed West to Spicer, MN where his mom's sister and her family live. We all gathered together for the next three days to celebrate his Granny and Papa's 60th anniversary. Wow! 60 years is quite the accomplishment! Below are a few images I captured throughout the weekend.

We had such a good time; the family time was great and the kids all behaved really well. For those of you who are interested, I have more images from this weekend posted on my website under the client proofs section. To get there, click HERE.

About Christina

One of my favorite memories from my own wedding, aside from marrying my husband, was when my Dad walked me down the aisle and I leaned over and whispered to him, "I'll always be your little girl."  I love that moment!
It's moments that make up our lives, defines who we are, and ultimately create our destinies.  Many such moments have brought me to where I am today.  I began photographing in 2001, and began Sandberg Photography in the fall of 2006.  This has been a huge dream of mine, and I believe that God has given me a gift of capturing unique and special moments; without Him, I am truly nothing!  I owe this dream to Him!
